Semantic Memory

  1. memory of experiences and specific events

  2. enables humans to reconstruct actual events that took place at any given point

  3. these memories of times, places and other autobiographical contexts can be explicitly stated

  1. structured record of facts, meanings and concepts

  2. general, factual knowledge; not reliant on personal experience

  3. examples are: types of food, capital cities or vocabulary

  4. this memory is abstract
