Reinforcement:

-reinforcement can be seen as bribery

-reinforcement promotes dependence on external rewards

-reinforcing one individual may cause another to act out so that they can be reinforced as well

-changing a behavior does not necessarily change the cause of the behavior

Punishment:

-a punished behavior is not eliminated, just suppressed

-punishment can lead to increase in undesired behavior in order to gain more attention from the enforcer

-it can be hard to recognize what a punishment is being linked to

-punishment can lead to undesired emotional behaviors

-punishment does not give an example of a desired behavior
