Tricia Leigh
-instruction is presented in small pieces (Chunking)
-there is a clear and observable objective for the mastery of each small piece (Terminal Behavior)
-must demonstrate mastery after each small piece (Active responding)
-instruction follows a logical sequence (Shaping)
-each lesson must be mastered before moving on to the next lesson
-Remedial activities are provided for those who do not master the lesson the first time
Mastery Learning
Idea that students must learn one lesson very well, or master that lesson, before moving on to the next lesson in the sequence. This way, students can eventually learn complex responses and behaviors.
