Step 5: Provide Learning Guidelines

  1. Offers student instructions on how to learn, such as in guided activities

  2. Rate of learning increases because students are less likely to waste time or become frustrated by not understanding material

  3. Include detailed information such as rubrics in projects

  4. Provide expectations, instructions, and timelines

Example:
For a unit on Australia, I came up with a rubric to grade students’ participation.  At the start of the unit, each student was given a copy of this rubric to refer to make sure they were participating appropriately.
